Ohio State Help
The following information has been provided to assist in the preparation of Ohio state tax returns.
Part-year resident. You are a part-year resident if you were an Ohio resident for less than 12 months during the tax year. As a part-year resident, use the Part-Year resident Schedule D on IT-1040, page 2 to figure the part-year credit on IT-1040, line 13.
Form SD-100 is prepared based on entries on Federal Form W-2. On Form W-2, enter the wages, withholding, and school district number in boxes 18, 19, and 20, respectively. W-2 information is carried to Form SD-100 based
on the school district number entered in W-2, box 20.

Wages/withholding information carries to the City forms based on a code entered in the 'State Use' box on Federal Form W-2 (next to Box 17, State W/H). To calculate Form W-2 information on the City forms, the following code scheme is used:

Ohio estimated tax will be computed based on a protective estimate. The estimated tax can be adjusted as necessary by making entries directly on the estimate worksheet.
To calculate an underpayment of estimated tax, Form IT-2210 must be added. Crosslink doesn't automatically calculate the penalty.
Line 1 of this worksheet calculates the full amount of medical expenses entered on Federal Schedule A.
Line 2 of this worksheet is calculated by making an entry of 'I' or 'L' (denoting medical insurance and long-term care insurance) on the 'State Use' field on Federal Schedule A.
Form R - Generic City Income Tax:
Federal Form W-2 information carries to Ohio City Form R based on a code entered on the 'State Use' box on Form W-2 (next to box 17, State W/H). Multiple occurrences of Form R are available. To calculate wages/withholding on Form R, enter a code on Form W-2 as follows:
Code 1A - 1st occurrence of Form R
Code 1B - 2nd occurrence of Form R
Code 1C - 3rd occurrence of Form R
